03 · CFO as a Service

Expert CFO leadership, when you need it

Not every company needs a full-time CFO. But every company needs well-grounded financial decisions. We bring senior CFO expertise with the flexibility of a tailored engagement: from targeted support to an ongoing partnership.

Who it's for

Who is the service for?

Growth-stage startups

Founding teams that need financial rigour ahead of a funding round: business model, cash flow forecasts, KPIs and investor documentation.

Expanding SMEs

Companies undergoing internationalisation, opening new business lines or integrating after an acquisition, requiring more sophisticated financial support.

Companies in transition

Businesses that have lost their CFO, are going through a succession process or have just completed a corporate transaction and need continuity in the finance function.

Groups with subsidiaries

Business groups that need a corporate CFO to coordinate financial information across multiple entities and act as the point of contact with investors, banks and auditors.

What the service includes

Financial and budget planning

We develop the annual financial plan, area-by-area budgets and scenario projections that allow needs to be anticipated and decisions to be made ahead of time.

Management control and reporting

We design and implement dashboards, financial KPIs and periodic reporting so that management and shareholders always have the information they need, when they need it.

Treasury and cash flow management

We optimise treasury management, prepare cash flow forecasts and put in place the controls that prevent liquidity surprises.

Bank and investor relations

We act as the point of contact with financial institutions, investment funds and family offices: preparing documentation, managing negotiations and maintaining the relationship.

Fundraising support

We prepare the financial model, pitch deck and due diligence materials for equity rounds, bank financing and debt issuance.

Accounting close oversight

We coordinate with the accounting team and auditors to ensure the quality and timeliness of closings, aligning financial reporting with shareholder requirements.

How we get started

Initial assessment

A first session at no cost to understand the financial situation, the immediate needs and the company's objectives. We define the scope, the level of commitment and the most suitable collaboration model.

Tailored proposal

We present a working proposal with a detailed scope, delivery schedule, planned commitment and pricing. No small print.

Onboarding

We integrate into the company: meeting the team, understanding the information systems, reviewing the key contracts and identifying the main stakeholders. The goal is to be operational from day one.

Ongoing support

We deliver the agreed periodic reports, participate in relevant committees and remain available for queries and urgent decisions throughout the entire engagement.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a CFO as a Service and a one-off financial adviser?

CFO as a Service implies an ongoing relationship with the company: the professional integrates into the team, develops a deep understanding of the business and makes financial decisions on a recurring basis. A one-off financial adviser assists with a specific project — a valuation, a corporate transaction, a debt renegotiation — without that operational continuity. CFO as a Service is, in essence, an external finance director with a tailored level of commitment.

How much time does the service require?

The commitment is adapted to each company's needs. It can range from a couple of days a month for an SME with basic reporting and banking needs, to near full-time for a company undergoing a fundraising round or a post-acquisition integration. We agree on the level at the outset and adjust it as the company evolves.

Can it be engaged for a single specific project?

Yes. Although CFO as a Service is designed as a continuous engagement, we also offer support for specific projects: preparing a funding round, financial integration after an acquisition, implementing a reporting system or a one-off bank negotiation. In that case, the project has a defined scope and timeline from the start.

How does the service interact with the internal finance team?

The external CFO works alongside the internal team, not in place of it. The role is to bring judgement, experience and analytical capacity to the decisions that require a higher level of expertise, while the internal team manages day-to-day operations. The relationship is collaborative, not a replacement: the internal team gains knowledge and the external CFO brings strategic perspective.

Does the service include bank relationship management?

Yes, typically. Managing relationships with financial institutions — credit line management, renegotiating terms, providing guarantees or applying for new financing — is one of the most valued aspects of the service. We act as direct interlocutors with banks on behalf of the client, with the technical preparation and negotiating capability that this demands.

What financial management systems and tools do you use?

We work with whatever systems the client already has in place: ERP, spreadsheets, BI tools or reporting platforms. We do not impose proprietary solutions. Where the engagement requires it, we advise on which tool best fits the company's needs and support its implementation — but always in the client's service, not the other way around.
